I am, however, very much looking forward to presenting some of my work at the <a href=\"https:\/\/qmcecs.wordpress.com\/2018\/09\/18\/queen-mary-eighteenth-century-studies-seminar-semester-one-2018-19\/\">Queen Mary Eighteenth-Century Studies seminar series<\/a> on 23 October 2018. I&#8217;ll be speaking to the title &#8220;The forgotten lives of William Macintosh in the Age of Revolution: from Caribbean planter to traveller in India; from spy in France to exile in Germany&#8221; (a slightly long-winded attempt to advertise Macintosh&#8217;s significance to a range of different audiences).<a href=\"https:\/\/inneskeighren.com\/williammacintosh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Presentation.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-653 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/inneskeighren.com\/williammacintosh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Presentation.jpg\" alt=\"The forgotten lives of William Macintosh in the Age of Revolution: from Caribbean planter to traveller in India; from spy in France to exile in Germany\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inneskeighren.com\/williammacintosh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Presentation.jpg 960w, https:\/\/inneskeighren.com\/williammacintosh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Presentation-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/inneskeighren.com\/williammacintosh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Presentation-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/inneskeighren.com\/williammacintosh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Presentation-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Looking further ahead, I have recently completed a fellowship application which\u2014if successful\u2014will allow me time to complete my programme of archival work and to begin writing my long-planned monograph, currently entitled\u00a0<em>The power of print: William Macintosh and the transnational circulation of radical ideas in the Age of Revolution<\/em>. As with all grant applications, this is a long shot; all I can do between now and next spring is to keep my fingers crossed and hope that my numbers <em>finally<\/em> come up in the great cosmic grant lottery.<\/p>\n<p>In the next few weeks I hope to receive reviewers&#8217; comments on my paper reconstructing Macintosh&#8217;s private library (seized during the French Revolution and deposited, largely, in the Biblioth\u00e8que municipal d\u2019Avignon).
